Casual Bearer / Driver

We are seeking to add people to our list who are able to assist with driving and bearing duties. This is occasional casual work. It would suit someone who already has sufficient income to live on but who would like the interest of doing a very worthwhile job on an occasional basis. You will need to be physically fit, be smart in appearance and have a great deal of sensitivity. You also need to have good availability during daytime hours and ideally, be prepared to work out of hours when required.

Nature of the Job

Normally this will involve you meeting up at our one of our premises - Halifax Road, S6 / Gleadless Mount, S12 or our garage unit in Dronfield, and proceeding from there to the location of the funeral ceremony. You will bear either with other Peace Funerals staff or with family members and will be required to carry the coffin in to the ceremony and, in the case of burial, on to the graveside, where you may also be involved in lowering the coffin.

Although much of the work will be Sheffield based, as Peace Funerals sometimes operates outside its own area, there will occasionally be the opportunity to work further afield.

There will also be the opportunity to be involved with an out of hours on call rota.

Training

No previous experience is necessary as you will be given training on how to do the job and on health and safety matters.

Payment

Payment is made monthly.

Bearing & Driving:
Up to 2 hours: £21, thereafter £10.50 per hour

Out of hours call out
£60 per call out
