WOODLAND
BURIALS |
| |
|
| |
If you want your passing to bring some benefit to the
environment, or just like the idea of a tree being your lasting
memorial, you may wish to consider the idea of Woodland
Burial.
|
| |
 |
In a Woodland Burial Ground, or woodland cemetery, trees are used to mark the graves instead of headstones. Such sites have a much less manicured appearance than traditional cemeteries, grasses being 'topped' just two or three times a year, allowing wildflower growth and encouraging wildlife.
And, as more burials take place, the land fills up with trees, and the burial ground becomes a wood. A special place for remembrance and an asset to our environment.

As founder members of the Association of Nature
Reserve Burial Grounds, managers of two Woodland Burial Grounds of
our own, and as the company with more experience of organising
woodland burial across the UK than any other funeral company, Peace
Funerals has the expertise to give you the support that you
need.

OUR OWN WOODLAND BURIAL GROUNDS
If you live within ready access of Peace Funerals' two Woodland
Burial Grounds, why not go and visit and see for yourself how peaceful
they are. One of them is in South Yorkshire, about 6 miles from
the centre of Sheffield and about 4 miles from the centre of Rotherham; the other is in
Derbyshire, near Ripley, north of Nottingham and Derby. They are
both open at all times.

Both of our Woodland Burial Grounds are dedicated exclusively to woodland burials, unlike the majority of sites which are areas set aside within traditional cemeteries.
Also at our Woodland Burial Grounds, a British native tree, of the family's own choosing, is planted on each grave. And wildflower seed stock harvested from local Sites of Special Scientific Interest is sown to restore the species diversity that has disappeared from our country over the last 50 years. |
 |
|
| |
And so that you will never lose track of where a loved one's
grave is located, we also allow a small York stone plaque to be laid
flat at the site of the grave
|
| |
 |
The burial grounds are open to
people of all faiths and to people of none, and ashes plots
can also be purchased. |

WOODLAND BURIAL ELSEWHERE
There are now several locations around the country
where land has been set aside for woodland burial. So, if our
burial grounds are not in your area, and you would prefer to find out if there is a site more local to you, you may wish to obtain the Natural Death Handbook (4th edition), produced by the Natural Death Centre, which includes a listing of Woodland Burial Grounds across the country. For details on how to obtain a copy, visit their website at www.naturaldeath.org.uk And, if you would still like our help as your funeral directors, please don't hesitate to contact us on freephone 0800 093 0505.
